  • You probably know someone touched by breast cancer- your mother, sister, wife, co-worker or maybe even you. That’s why we are taking steps to raise awareness and money to help find a cure.

Steppin’ Out in Pink is a non-competitive fundraising 5 mile walk for all ages and abilities. It raises money to support breast cancer research at the Gundersen Lutheran Norma J. Vinger Center for Breast Care. The research being done at Gundersen Lutheran will change the way breast cancer is treated locally and nationally.

The walk is an emotional and personally rewarding experience for breast cancer survivors as well as friends, family, and co-workers. In 2008, a record 3,700 walkers stepped out with family and friends to support women and men everywhere whose lives have been changed by breast cancer. With the volunteers and vendors, a total of 4,150 people participated, and more than $270,000 was raised.

All proceeds from Steppin’ Out in Pink support the Norman L. Gillette, Jr. Cancer Research Fellowship. It was established at Gundersen Lutheran Medical Foundation through the generosity of the families of Norman L. Gillette, Jr., and Donald & Norma J. Vinger. The goal is to reach $2 million to fully fund the endowment. Help us continue this important research by joining us Sept. 12, 2009 for this year’s Steppin’ Out in Pink.
